A cooperative class designed for students and their parents/caregivers. For children under the age of two, or those two year olds who are looking for a group learning environment but not yet ready to separate from their parent/caregiver.
Children must be 18 months old by September 1st.
Fridays from 9am–11am
12 children maximum
Children will explore a wide range of creative learning modalities including art, sensory materials, play dough, dramatic play, and outdoor activities.
The class progresses to music, community snack, and outdoor play on the lower playground where a play structure and sandbox await. Half of the caregivers are invited to participate in a class discussion while the children play outside with the remaining caregivers and a teacher.
While attendance is not mandatory, the discussion segment of the class is a wonderful opportunity for caregivers and parents to discuss relevant questions, and often proves to be a highlight of the program.
Discussion topics are initially structured—covering practical subjects such as child development, positive discipline, healthy foods, and speech and language development—then the discussion opens up to group suggestions. This portion of the class provides experience for students who are learning to separate from their primary caregiver.
