Daily Routine

The Honeybees begin their day with play time in the upper and lower yards, encouraging opportunities to develop gross motor skills using bikes, blue building blocks, and balls. Gardening, and dramatic play are also available.  Following a cooperative clean up time, the children gather inside for Circle, which encourages music, sharing, movement, and an overall sense of community. We offer a group snack afterwards of  fruit, vegetables and crackers, and sometimes offer a treat from the school garden. After snack, the children enjoy  free choice indoor play at a variety of learning stations, which may include art, playdough, building manipulatives, dramatic play, literacy, math, and science. The children end the day with story time.

The Honeybees go to Chapel once a week. They also generally take two field trips during the year—to the pumpkin patch in the fall and to Hidden Villa Farm in the spring. Cooking, science and show-and-tell are a regularly scheduled part of the curriculum.
